Keywords:

Medieval art was not only decoration. It was a visual language through which people expressed faith, power, memory, fear, hope, and social identity. In the Middle Ages, many people could not read, so images in churches, manuscripts, sculptures, stained-glass windows, icons, and wall paintings helped them understand religious stories and moral lessons. At the same time, medieval art was not limited to religion. It also appeared in castles, courts, houses, books, jewellery, textiles, weapons, and everyday objects. This article discusses the main features of medieval art, its connection with religion, the role of artists and patrons, the development of Romanesque and Gothic styles, and the place of art in ordinary people’s lives. It shows that medieval art should be seen not as primitive or simple, but as meaningful, symbolic, and deeply connected with the society that created it.Downloads
