Abstract

The paper addresses the assessment of the transit potential of rail-based multimodal transport corridors passing through, and being designed across, the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The constraints of the existing corridors are identified, and the anticipated impact of the China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan railway and the Termez - Mazar-i-Sharif - Kabul - Peshawar project is analysed on the basis of a system of criteria. An integrated indicator for the comprehensive assessment of corridor potential is proposed, and recommendations for the development of the national transport system are formulated.
